To Prepare Your Ham for Cooking

Scrub the ham in warm water with a stiff brush to remove all mold, then rinse. Cut off the hock so the ham will fit your pan. Save it for seasoning later. Soak the ham 12-24 hours. This helps to remove salt and add moisture.
